Beat the Flu Naturally
SzxsfVWhen someone has the flu, you think . . . it's OK, they'll get over it.
They just need to rest, and get plenty of fluids.
But, when it's YOU who has the FLU, you whistle a different tune, right?
Throbbing head, throat so sore you don't even want to drink water!
Aching muscles, sweat from a fever that's got you hallucinating,
coughing until you can hardly catch a breath,
just want to cover up and leave the scene.
And, if you've got a stomach flu you can add
vomiting and diarrhea!
SO . . . Really . . .
Who Needs the FLU!

Hippocrates was a wise man. His best known quote "First Do No Harm" is timeless.
So, with that in mind, even if you don't read any more on this website about alleviating illness
PLEASE LEARN THIS - The main ingredient in aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid
should not be given to a child or teenager who has a fever, especially if the child also has
Flu symptoms or Chicken Pox.
It's now fairly well-known that Aspirin can cause a serious and sometimes fatal condition called Reye's syndrome in children and teens.
And, it may exacerbate Flu symptoms as well.
Bayer aspirin had recently been introduced and gaining in popularity when the Spanish Flu of 1918 hit.
What's NOT well know is that aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) can greatly REDUCE
the chances of surviving a hemorrhagic virus, like H1N1 (and it's descendants) and Ebola.
HERE'S WHY:
Aspirin thins your blood, allowing it to seep out of tissues.
Both H1N1 Flu strains and Ebola's major symptoms are internal bleeding.
COMMON SENSE, REALLY.
Also, salicylates increase lung fluid and protein levels and impair mucous clearance.
In 1918, the US Surgeon General, the US Navy, and the Journal of the American Medical Association recommended use of aspirin just before the October death spike.
Unfortunately, many doctors and patients took this advice.
The Fever

Although fevers are uncomfortable, most fevers should be left to run their course. Fevers are an important defense against pathogens.
Low-grade fevers range from about 100 F-102 F while higher-grade fevers range from about 103 F-104 F. Dangerous temperatures are high-grade fevers that range from 104 F-107 F or higher – seek medical assistance.*
* "High-grade" (those over 104 degrees) fevers are NOT normally associated with combating an invading pathogen, rather result from various biological pathways gone amuck, usually due to prescription drugs. One typical example being “Serotonin Syndrome” which is brought on by pharmaceutical medications designed to address depression and bi-polar conditions. When serotonin syndrome is triggered, usually by upping the dose of your current prescription drug or adding another drug to it, the nervous system loses its ability to monitor temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure, among other vital processes.
A few over the counter supplements such as tryptophan or 5-HTP and herbs such as St. John's wort and ginseng typically act in the same way as antidepressants, but seldom cause severe symptoms.

Vitamin C
It's very wise to either eat a lot of raw foods containing Vitamin C
or supplement with Vitamin C powder, capsules or tablets. Food sources are far more absorbable and beneficial to our bodies. But, supplements can help tremendously in an emergency! If you or a loved one have contracted the Flu, or cold for that matter, please follow this protocol: Eat as much Vitamin C rich foods as possible, and . . . Take 500 - 1000 mg of Vitamin C supplements each hour . . . every hour. More is not needed, as the human body can only deal with the above doses in an hour. Continue to "saturation" (loose stools or diarrhea occurs). It’s this the mega-dosing that is needed to destroy the invaders. |
Doses of Vitamin D3 is recommended by many Naturopaths and even MDs, for Flu avoidance in adults of 5,000 IUs of Vitamin D3 per day, and half of that for children. Be sure to take Vitamin K2 with it, so that calcium will be directed to the right places . . . namely your bones and teeth, and not arteries and soft tissues.
The Sun slants low in the sky, Fall and Winter, so this is when we MOST need our Vitamin D supplements, from our food and/or supplements. Vitamin D3 supplementation is thankfully very affordable. Check your nearest health food or drug store.
Should you be unfortunately enough to fall victim to the Flu, here's what to do:
Adults go up to 10,000 IUs per day of Vitamin D3, children half that.*
*Only take the safe and natural Vitamin D3, which is most effective, or D2 . . . (Not synthetic D)
This especially applies when mega-dosing. D3 is for Thee!
Vitamin D3 Sunlight Connection
The type of D that sunlight produces on our skin is D3.
People living in sunny environments, and closest to the equator don't get the flu nearly as much as those who live further from the equator and in cloudy Wintry areas. Interesting, eh?
The less sunlight you get, the more Vitamin D3 supplementation you should get.
Be sure to couple your D3 with Vitamin K2. D3/K2 effectively directs calcium to the areas in your body that need it - like bones and teeth. Without K2 Vitamin D can lead to hypercalcemia, a condition in which too much calcium builds up in the blood, potentially forming deposits in the arteries or soft tissues. It may also predispose women to painful kidney stones.
