Reye's Syndrome
A rare but serious condition that causes swelling in the liver and brain. Reye's syndrome most often affects children and teenagers recovering from a viral infection, most commonly the flu or chickenpox.
Do not give aspirin to anyone (young or old) who has Flu or Chicken Pox symptoms.
A person’s life depends upon early diagnosis. Statistics indicate an excellent chance of recovery when Reye’s Syndrome is diagnosed and treated in its earliest stages. The later the diagnosis and treatment, the more severely reduced are the chances for successful recovery and survival.
What to do After Your Child Has Flu or Reye's Syndrome- and Seems to Feel Better
This phenomenon eerily repeats itself in more than a couple of illnesses that I've run across.
It all too often presents itself after a case of the Flu . . .
The patient seems to get well . . . they return to school . . . but, a couple of days later, illness rears up with a vengeance!
